Peggy Gossett-Seidman has been a proud resident of Highland Beach, Florida for over 30 years, where she and her husband, Dr. Barry Seidman, have raised their three children, Tyler, Dallas, and Austin. They enjoy boating and diving in South Florida’s abundant waterways.
Upon noticing prevalent issues in her community, Peggy ran for the Highland Beach Town Commission, where she served for five years and was responsible for making Highland Beach the safest municipality in the State, based on state crime data and reported by numerous media outlets. In 2022, she started her work serving in the Florida State Legislature, bringing in over $10.3 million for the people of District 91. Working with legislators on both sides, Peggy passed eight bills in her first term, including the widely covered Jeffrey Epstein Grand Jury Case Files Release, Motor Voter Integrity Bill, and Safe Waterways/Public Bathing Places bill. As she constantly notes, “It’s not hard to do the right thing.” Additionally, Peggy serves as the Vice Chair for the PreK-12 Appropriations Subcommittee, as well as serving on five additional committees, including the Water Quality, Supply, and Treatment Subcommittee.
Before starting a career serving her community, Peggy was born on a U.S. Air Force Base and raised in Michigan, the oldest of four. She attended Michigan State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honors, studying writing, journalism, and history while working as a State News reporter. After graduation, she combined her love of creative writing and athletics to become the first woman sportswriter in both the Big Ten, and the Palm Beach Post, covering tennis, auto racing, baseball, and football. This laid the foundation for her strong communication skills and public service aspirations.
Peggy then worked as a professional journalist, writer, and media director for many companies, including Wimbledon, US Open and Women’s Pro Tennis Tour in 18 countries, Burt Reynolds Jupiter Theater and TV Series, Chris Evert Pro-Celebrity, local schools, businesses, and charitable events. At the national and state levels, Peggy worked with Points of Light, Florida’s Ounce of Prevention Fund, Special Olympics, Best Buddies, and March of Dimes, among others. She has published more than 3,000 articles and won 22 national and state awards for her work.
Through her leadership, District 91 has flourished- but there’s still work to be done. Peggy is dedicated to continuing her fight to bring common-sense solutions to District 91 and the State of Florida.
